Alex Levac was born in Tel Aviv in 1944. He graduated from Tel Aviv University with a degree in psychology and philosophy, and received his degree in photography from London College of Printing. Levac has worked as a staff photographer for Ha’aretz since 1993 and has authored a weekly column entitled The 21st Century – comprised of a single photograph. He is a recipient of the Israel Prize – the highest award Israel awards to its citizens. Levac, who has covered his share of hard news over the years, also has the rare capacity to find humor in every day life on the streets of the Holy Land.
