David Harris was born in Jerusalem in 1929 died April 24th 2008 in Jerusalem. He studied photography as an apprentice for Leo Arthur Robitscheck and later went to the School of Modern Photography, New York, graduating with distinction as top student. He worked as the head of photography for the Jewish agency, and was the photographer of several archaeological excavations (including the Yigel Yadin excavation in Messada and the Judean desert). David Harris was head of the photography department at the Hadassah College in Jerusalem. He published many books, among them "From the Beginning", "In the Footsteps of Jesus", "In the Footsteps of Moses" which has been published in eight languages. David Harris participated in numerous grouped exhibitions. His solo exhibitions include Vilanova University, Philadelphia, 1982; Jerusalem 3000 years, Beer Sheva, 1996; Vision Gallery, Jerusalem, 2002.Recieved the Israel Museum Enrique Kalvin Photography Prize 2008.
